"The State is the only gang in town that calls its violence ‘law’ and its theft ‘taxation’."

The State is the Only Gang in Town That Calls Its Violence “Law” and Its Theft “Taxation”

The State is just the most successful gang in history. It claims territory, demands protection money, and enforces obedience with violence — the only difference is it dresses the racket in suits and calls it “law” and “taxation.” In Divine Anarcho-Capitalism, there’s no monopoly on force, no legal immunity for thieves in ties, and no pretending robbery is “for the common good.”

There’s a reason every gang in history has a name, a flag, and a set of rules: it’s easier to rob and control people when you can make it sound official.

The State just perfected the branding.

They wear suits instead of colors, but the business model is the same as any street crew:

  • Control territory (borders)
  • Run protection rackets (taxes)
  • Enforce obedience through violence (law)

The difference? A street gang doesn’t bother pretending it’s for your own good. The State does. They need you to believe that without them, chaos reigns. That without their “laws,” humanity would just start looting, murdering, and eating each other.

Funny thing — most of the violence, theft, and chaos is coming from them. They just rebrand it as “policy” and “public safety.” They bomb civilians in the name of peace. They take a cut of your paycheck in the name of “the common good.” They lock people in cages for “crimes” that hurt no one but bruised an official’s ego.

And if you refuse to pay their “tax,” they escalate — letters, fines, court summons, warrants, handcuffs, prison. At gunpoint if necessary. If you doubt that, try not paying and see how quickly “public service” turns into “armed robbery.”

The only difference between a gang and the State is PR.

The DAC Perspective: Ending the Monopoly on Violence

A gang thrives because it can operate without competition. If you don’t pay the local mob, they’ll hurt you. If you don’t pay the State, same deal — but they’ll call it “justice” and put their logo on the paperwork.

Divine Anarcho-Capitalism flips that. In DAC, no one gets a monopoly on law or force. Disputes are handled through contracts, arbitration, and enforceable agreements that you voluntarily enter. If someone tries to use force without consent? They’re cut off from the system entirely — no access to trade, reputation, or protection.

There’s no “vote to rob your neighbor” button. No centralized gang with legal immunity. Security, justice, and cooperation are provided by networks that compete for your trust — and your business. If they betray either, they’re gone.

In DAC, protection isn’t something you’re forced to buy. It’s something you choose to buy from people who have to earn your trust to survive.

Why This Matters

The State’s biggest scam isn’t just theft or violence — it’s the lie that you can’t live without them. They’ve sold the myth that the only alternative to their monopoly is chaos.

But we already live in chaos — it’s just wearing a badge.

A stateless, voluntary system isn’t utopia. It’s simply the first system in history where the rules apply equally to everyone, and no gang — no matter how well dressed — gets to make themselves the exception.

If you’re tired of paying protection money to the only gang in town, maybe it’s time to build a new town.
